LET IT GO

This phrase, “Let it go,” gets tossed around often and it’s one of those phrases that is often easier said than done. Right? 

But what if we really could let it go? How wonderfully freeing that would be! What if we would be able to let go of the petty worries that often occupy our minds, let go of obsessing over the past, or worrying about what others think of us, or what was said to us last week, or 20 years ago etc., etc., etc. We all are often too familiar with the list of things that we wish did not fill our minds and hearts with anxiety.

And, what if there was a yoga pose that could help us really let go? You know what pose I’m talking about!

In my 17 years of studying and practicing yoga with many great teachers and different styles, Savasana / Final Relaxation has been that place for me to fully surrender and let go. Maybe we can only let go for a minute or two but over time we may find we can let go a little more easily or not as quickly pick it back up.

Savasana is a pose of ease and freedom. When we are able to let go of the tensions of the body and mind, that is where we can find our ease and freedom.

The next time you find yourself on your yoga mat in Final Relaxation, offer yourself the invitation to let it go.
